One of headteacher Mavis Clegg's joys was listening to children read We're saddened to share the passing of Mavis Clegg, a much-loved former Oldham headteacher, aged 92. Mavis was headteacher at Eustace Street School and Glodwick Infants School in the Seventies and Eighties, earning the admiration of pupils, staff, and the wider community. Proudly "Oldham through and through," she never considered working "in the leafy suburbs" saying "I belong here." One of the greatest joys of her career was listening to children read. Fully funded by the Council, Wrigley Head Solar Farm is the first project to be delivered as part of Oldham's Green New Deal, which aims to create local green jobs and training opportunities while delivering environmental and economic benefits to the borough. The site is part of the Moston Brook Green Corridor.
