Woman, 70, dies after being found unconscious on Greater Manchester road

A 70-year-old woman was found unconscious and seriously injured on Waggon Road, Park Bridge, at the border of Ashton-under-Lyne and Oldham, on Sunday afternoon (August 10). She was taken to hospital but later died. Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident and appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage.

A 70-year-old woman has died after being discovered unconscious with serious injuries on Waggon Road at the Park Bridge border of Ashton-under-Lyne and Oldham.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 2:30pm on Sunday, August 10, where they found the pensioner lying on the road. She was transported to hospital for treatment but succumbed to her injuries.

Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding how the woman came to be on the road.

“Our officers are now investigating and want to find out how she came to be on the road,” a GMP spokesperson said.

The SCIU is appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
