Witness appeal issued as police probe fatal Hollins property fire
Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal fire occurred at a property on Walkers Road in Hollins, Oldham, on Thursday night. Emergency services responded around 8:25 PM, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity is still being established, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Oldham: One person died when fire tore through a house on Walkers Road in the Hollins area on Thursday night.
Crews and police arrived at about 8.25 pm after neighbours dialled 999, but the victim was pronounced dead inside the property. Officers say formal identification is still under way.
Detective Inspector Roberto Dicorato, of GMP’s Oldham district, said:
“A person has sadly lost their life following the fire last night, and we are working closely with partners in the fire service to establish the exact cause. We have not yet established the full circumstances and would ask anyone with any information, or who witnessed the fire last night, to please get in touch. This includes anyone with nearby CCTV or doorbell footage.”
Specialist fire investigators remained at the scene overnight combing the building for clues to how the blaze started. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or use the force’s Live Chat, quoting log 3130 of 20/02/25. Footage can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
