Top award for Saddleworth Rotarian
Saddleworth Rotary Club President Clint Elliott was awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship for his outstanding service to Rotary and the community. The award highlights his long-standing contributions, including his work with Age UK Oldham, Mahdlo Youth Zone, and local events like the Saddleworth Show and Wellifest.
Saddleworth Rotary Club President Clint Elliott received the organization’s highest honor, a Paul Harris Fellowship, during a ceremony at the White Hart at Lydgate that recognized his decade of dedicated service to the club and community.
Former President John Ainley presented the award, highlighting Elliott’s distinguished career that included receiving the Queen’s Police Medal for 35 years of service with the Cleveland Force and Police Federation. Since moving to Saddleworth in 2005 after retirement, Elliott has held numerous positions within the Rotary Club and spearheaded major events including the Summer Show and Wellifest.
“Clint has held most positions in the club and has worked tirelessly on the Summer Show and Wellifest. He is a long-standing trustee at Age UK Oldham and a mentor at Mahdlo Youth Zone,” Ainley noted. “Clint epitomises the Rotary motto Service above Self in every way.”
Elliott, reflecting on his decade with the organization, called the fellowship “a great honour” and praised the club’s 50-year tradition of community service. Looking ahead, he identified the challenge of maintaining successful fundraising through public events like the Saddleworth Show while encouraging new members to step forward. “I am sure that there must be others out there in the Saddleworth area, who would welcome the chance to use their time and experience to help out in the future and the Club would be happy to provide that opportunity,” Elliott said.
