Three arrested after woman stabbed in Oldham
A woman in her 20s is fighting for her life after being stabbed on Greenwood Street in Oldham late Friday night. Police were called to the scene at around 10:40pm on March 27, where they found the victim with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing.
Three people have now been arrested in connection with the attack-two men in their 20s and a juvenile boy. All three were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault, or causing grievous bodily harm with intent. One man remains in custody while the other man and the boy have been bailed pending further enquiries.
The victim remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, receiving treatment for her injuries. Police have placed a cordon on Greenwood Street while their investigation continues, and extra patrols have been deployed in the area to reassure the community.
Chief Inspector Ian Partington described the incident as 'a shocking incident of violence' and said officers believe it to be an isolated event with no wider threat to the community. Detective Inspector Mike Ogiliev said the investigation has 'continued at pace' and appealed for anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage from the area at the time to come forward.
