The Roger Tanner Trust grant supports local homelessness charity
The Roger Tanner Trust has awarded a grant to Emmaus Mossley, a local homelessness charity, to help purchase a new energy-efficient van for their social enterprise. The van will support their operations, including collecting donations and delivering items from their second-hand superstore, which funds their residential community and support services for formerly homeless individuals.
A new energy-efficient van is now on the road for Emmaus Mossley after The Roger Tanner Trust awarded a grant to the homelessness charity to replace its aging collection and delivery vehicle.
The Roger Tanner Trust, established by community champion Roger Tanner to support local organizations in Saddleworth and surrounding areas, stepped forward with funding that enabled Emmaus Mossley to purchase the essential transport needed for its social enterprise operations.
“We are delighted to be able to support Emmaus Mossley and recognise the fantastic work they do within our community,” said Kevin Sanders, Trustee at The Roger Tanner Trust. “The passion of their staff permeates the whole organisation. The thing that came across most to us was the things going on behind the scenes at Emmaus. Everyone sees the retail element, but it was great to see and understand the support on offer and the difference it makes to the people who live there.”
Emmaus Mossley provides homes, companionship, tailored support and work opportunities for people who have experienced homelessness. The charity runs a large Secondhand Superstore where furniture, fashion, books, music, bric-a-brac and handmade items are sold, with all income funding the residential community and support services.
“We are very grateful to The Roger Tanner Trust for their kind support which has enabled us to invest in a new van,” said Alison Hill, Chief Executive Officer at Emmaus Mossley. “This vehicle is an essential part of our social enterprise, collecting donations and delivering items from our second-hand superstore.”
