Mossley SOUP, a community micro-funding initiative, marked its 20th gathering at Emmaus Mossley, attracting 180+ residents who each paid £5 for soup, music and the chance to vote on four local projects. The night raised a record £2,187, with every penny awarded to Mossley Hollins High School’s “Wellbeing Room” project, presented by student Thea Smith-Heeley. Additional £100 grants went to the three runners-up (1st Mossley Scouts, Thompson Cross Community Kitchen, Trumpet Choir) courtesy of headline sponsor Premier Kia. Ingredients, raffle prizes and cakes were donated by 15+ local firms and residents, while Mossley Town Council and Emmaus Mossley each chipped in £250. The next themed SOUP is scheduled for 19 Feb 2026 and organisers are calling for more creative pitches.
