The Oldham Academy North finishes award-winning year on a high
The Oldham Academy North (TOAN) celebrated outstanding GCSE results, marking the end of a successful year that included a positive Ofsted inspection and national awards. Several students achieved high grades, with Tameem Shah being the highest-attaining student. Acting Headteacher Natalie Kennerly and E-ACT CEO Tom Campbell praised the students' hard work and resilience. The academy highlighted individual success stories and emphasized the support from staff and families.
Tameem Shah led E-ACT The Oldham Academy North’s Class of 2024 with seven Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and a Grade 6, capping a year that saw the school earn a positive Ofsted report and multiple national awards.
Staff and families packed the academy Thursday as students collected GCSE certificates that ended five years of work and opened doors to sixth-form, college and apprenticeship places across Greater Manchester.
Science standout Shah, a Student Ambassador who helped organise the school’s Culture Day and Iftar celebrations, headed a parade of high achievers. Diyana Yusuf secured three Grade 9s, five Grade 8s and a 5, and will pursue physics; Emmanuella Nwulia collected three 9s, three 8s, two 7s and two Distinctions; Labayka Mahmood earned Grade 7s in English and History; and Naomi Daniel-Nmadozie improved markedly to gain an 8, two 7s, a 6 and three 4s. Azan Ali passed all core subjects after overcoming significant challenges.
Acting Headteacher Natalie Kennerly said: “We’re really proud of our students today. They’ve worked hard, stuck with it through the challenges, and shown real determination to succeed. It’s been brilliant to see so many smiles this morning! They’ve earned this moment, and we’re excited to see what they go on to do next.”
E-ACT CEO Tom Campbell added: “Congratulations to every student at E-ACT The Oldham Academy North collecting their GCSE results. This has been a great year for the academy and today is about celebrating the young people who’ve worked so hard, and the staff and families who’ve supported them every step of the way.”
