That's a magic effort - all in aid of food bank
Teenagers from Wild Space Forest School in Diggle raised over £300 for Mossley Food Bank through an Easter Basket raffle and craft sales at Diggle Park.
Diggle teenagers transformed their creative skills into community support this month, raising over £300 for Mossley Food Bank through a spirited Easter event in Diggle Park.
Twelve youngsters from Wild Space Forest School’s Home Education group organized a bustling stall where visiting children crafted magic wands while the teens sold handmade jewelry and wooden items they’d created themselves. The centerpiece of their fundraising effort was an Easter Basket raffle that drew crowds to the park.
“These youngsters worked so hard and I’m very proud of what they’ve achieved,” said Trudy Melvin, owner of Wild Space Forest School. “They’ve also had a fantastic learning experience, planning, preparing and running the event.”
The forest school, which Melvin established in August 2021 off Ward Lane in Diggle, runs two home education groups - Monday mornings for children aged 11 and older, and Thursday mornings for ages 4 to 11 - plus holiday clubs during school breaks. “We believe in inspiring an interest in nature, outdoor play and fostering independence, creativity and imagination,” Melvin explained.
