Tesco customers in Oldham contributed 800 brand-new toys to the Toy Donation campaign, benefiting children in need through Cash for Kids and Stagecoach Tameside, as part of a UK-wide effort that collected over 125,000 items. Tesco also donated £25,000 to the Salvation Army to support vulnerable families during Christmas.

Oldham shoppers donated 800 brand-new toys to ensure children in need wouldn’t go without presents this Christmas, as part of a nationwide campaign that collected over 125,000 toys.

Tesco stores in Oldham appealed to customers before the festive season to support families who otherwise couldn’t afford gifts, prompting an enthusiastic response from the community. The donated toys went to Cash for Kids and Stagecoach Tameside, bringing joy to local children on Christmas morning.

“Throughout the year our stores give support to children and their community, and without fail local people support us in our efforts,” said Claire De Silva, Head of Communities at Tesco. “So once again we are grateful to the people of Oldham for showing that the magic of Christmas is very much alive and well.”

The December campaign ran across UK Tesco stores, with the supermarket also contributing £25,000 to the Salvation Army to support vulnerable families during the festive season.
