Action Together Seeks New Trustees to Strengthen Communities Across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside
Community charity Action Together is recruiting additional Board members to help guide its work supporting 3,000 member organisations across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside. The membership organisation, founded in 2016, provides practical support to local groups working to reduce poverty and inequality.
The charity seeks individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, particularly those with connections to Communities Experiencing Racial Inequality (CERI), including Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to Action Together’s core values: “Believe it’s possible, Strengthen others, Be true.”
Chair Camilla Guereca, who has served since the charity’s formation and became Chair in January 2023, said: “I became a Trustee because Action Together is an organisation with strong values, which I apply to all aspects of my life and work within the charity. We are an organisation striving to reduce poverty and inequality and advocating for the needs of the sector at a local and Greater Manchester level - something I care passionately about.”
Trustees will join the Board responsible for setting strategy, making key decisions and overseeing the organisation’s operations. The charity particularly seeks candidates with experience in senior charity leadership, finance, legal practices, HR, digital innovation, health and social care systems, or community organising.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, September 22 via [email protected]. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed from September 29, with successful nominees requiring formal approval at the Annual General Meeting on November 5. Trustees serve initial one-year terms.
Informal drop-in sessions will be held in Oldham on September 15 and Tameside on September 16, both from 4pm to 7pm, for prospective candidates to meet current Board members.
