Tandle Hill park rescue drama

A woman was rescued by the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team after slipping and injuring her ankle in Tandle Hill Country Park. The team, along with the North West Ambulance Service, splinted her ankle and carried her 500 meters to an ambulance. Eleven team members were involved in the two-hour operation.

Eleven Oldham Mountain Rescue Team volunteers spent two hours Saturday evening carrying an injured woman 500 metres across Tandle Hill Country Park after she slipped on a steep slope and badly damaged her ankle.

The alarm was raised at tea-time when North West Ambulance Service asked for help reaching the casualty, who was unable to walk. Rescue volunteers joined paramedics at the scene, splinted the woman’s ankle and transferred her to a stretcher for the carry-out to the waiting ambulance.
