Steve's Team Hill Charitable Trust hosts joyful Christmas afternoon tea

The Team Hill Charitable Trust, led by Steve Hill, held its annual Christmas afternoon tea at St Anne’s Rugby Club, attracting over 130 attendees. The event featured food, drinks, and a performance by the Moorside Community Choir, with a special appearance by the Mayor of Oldham, Cllr Zahid Chauhan. The event successfully raised funds for the Trust's work supporting schools in Uganda and local families.

Over 130 neighbors packed St Anne’s Rugby Club on Sunday for Team Hill Charitable Trust’s annual Christmas afternoon tea, raising cash for schools in Uganda and struggling families in Oldham.

Long tables groaned with homemade cakes, finger sandwiches, chilled Prosecco and pots of steaming tea while the Moorside Community Choir belted out carols that had toddlers swaying and pensioners humming along. Mayor of Oldham Cllr Zahid Chauhan dropped in to lend his backing, shaking hands and posing for photos before the raffle tickets started flying.

Steve Hill, who founded the Trust, said: “Our Christmas afternoon tea is a wonderful way to celebrate the season, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity to bring the community together to support the essential work we do at Team Hill Charitable Trust. We are deeply grateful for everyone’s generosity and participation.”

Every pound raised will pay for Ugandan classroom materials and emergency food parcels closer to home, a fact that had volunteers sweeping up cake crumbs with broad smiles as the last choir note faded.
