Rochdale Predator Jailed for 11 Years After Three-Year Abuse Campaign Against Young Children

Carl Sinderby, 43, will serve 11 years and four months behind bars after pleading guilty to 20 child sex offences at Minshull Street Crown Court today (Friday 25 April 2025). The Rochdale man admitted to sexually assaulting two children aged just five and seven when the abuse began in 2021, continuing until July 2024.

The Manchester Road resident confessed to ten counts of sexual assault, two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act, two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and six counts of taking and making indecent images of children. He received an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for life.

Greater Manchester Police’s Online Child Abuse Investigation Team launched their investigation after receiving intelligence from a partner agency. Digital forensic investigators seized devices from Sinderby’s property and uncovered thousands of videos and images documenting the abuse. During two days of police interviews, Sinderby admitted to grooming the children and betraying their parents’ trust to satisfy his sexual interest in children.

Detective Sergeant Greevy from the Online Child Abuse Investigation Team said: “What Carl Sinderby has done to this family, particularly these children, is nothing short of cruel. The children’s wellbeing and safety has been at the forefront of our investigation, as has getting justice for them. I know they may be too young to fully comprehend what has happened to them, but they were incredibly brave in telling us some of the things Sinderby was doing to them whilst they were in his care.”
