Nine people face eviction by First Choice Homes Oldham
First Choice Homes Oldham is continuing its partnership with Greater Manchester Police's Operation Vulcan by issuing nine more eviction notices for tenants involved in criminal activities, including drug possession, weapons offences, and racially aggravated public order. This brings the total to 18 evictions since the operation began. Additionally, 16 tenancy warning letters have been issued for offences like assault, affray, public order, drugs, and weapons. The housing association emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy towards crime in its properties.
Nine more Oldham residents face losing their homes as First Choice Homes Oldham escalates its partnership with Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Vulcan, bringing the total number of tenants facing eviction to 18 since the crime crackdown began in March.
The housing association issued nine new notices to seek possession this week, with seven related to drug offences, one for weapons violations, and one for racially aggravated public order. The properties affected span across Oldham, including locations in Alt, Sholver, Shaw, Clarkwell, Derker, Coldhurst, and the town centre.
In addition to the eviction notices, FCHO delivered 16 tenancy warning letters for evidence of assault, affray, public order breaches, and drug and weapons offences across neighbourhoods including Littlemoor, Higginshaw, Chadderton, and Holts Village.
Mark Gifford, FCHO chief executive, warned that the housing association’s crackdown continues: “We announced in June we wanted to evict nine customers due to criminal activity discovered by Vulcan in the previous three months and this latest tranche of summer notices to seek possession and the warning letters makes it clear we are not finished.”
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Kennedy from GMP’s Operation Vulcan team confirmed the partnership’s effectiveness: “It is fair to say that those who undertake crime or anti-social behaviour view things very differently when they learn they may lose their home for it. I hope it sends a stark message to those who are engaged in criminality that ourselves and our partners will never hesitate to take action.”
