Royal British Legion branch mark VE Day with a super celebration

The Failsworth Branch of the Royal British Legion celebrated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day with a lively event at the Holy Family Church Hall, featuring local entertainer Dom Collins and attended by RAF Cadets and veterans.

Failsworth veterans marked 80 years since Victory in Europe with a rousing party at Holy Family Church Hall on Lord Lane, where wartime memories mixed with music, laughter and the steady beat of an RAF cadet drum.

Local favourite Dom Collins took charge of the microphone, spinning songs, stories and jokes that kept the dance floor busy and the applause rolling through the packed hall. Cadets from the Failsworth and Newton Heath RAF Squadron opened the night, drumming the Failsworth Standard to the stage as the crowd rose to honour the men and women who served.

Royal British Legion branch officials said every seat was filled, and cheers echoed longest when the veterans themselves were recognised.
