Greater Manchester Police Seize £20k Drugs and Weapons in Withington Raid
Tuesday, 29 April 2025 - Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s County Lines and Operation Venture units forced entry to a Mouldsworth Avenue address in Withington this morning after intelligence indicated knives were being sold online.
An 18-year-old man was arrested inside the house on suspicion of acquiring knives for sale, marketing them, and drugs offences. He remains in custody for questioning.
During the search, detectives recovered:
- Cannabis and other drugs with an estimated street value of more than £20,000
- Several large knives
- Machetes
- Axes
- Extendable batons
Sergeant Mohammed Waqas, of Op Venture, said the operation “marks another step forward” in the force’s efforts to tackle knife crime.
”We are learning how knives are being sourced online and, by working with specialist teams, we are now tracking down those who break the law selling weapons,” he added.
”Tougher government rules and stronger penalties on under-age knife sales, both in shops and online, will help us keep communities safe and reduce the number of blades on the streets.”
