Oldham woman evicted by FCHO

First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) has evicted Veronica Rouse, a 52-year-old woman, following multiple incidents of violence, anti-social behaviour, and harassment. Rouse was subject to several injunctions since 2019, including one with a power of arrest, and spent time in prison for breaching these injunctions and other offences. The latest injunction, granted until 2027, led to her eviction on July 8 due to rent arrears. FCHO, Oldham Council, and Greater Manchester Police collaborated to address the situation, with FCHO praising residents for their patience and bravery.

Oldham social tenant Veronica Rouse has been evicted from her Sedgemoor Way home and barred from the area until 2027 after Manchester County Court granted First Choice Homes Oldham an injunction with power of arrest.

The 52-year-old, who had already been subject to four previous injunctions since 2019, was prohibited from verbally abusing neighbours, creating noise nuisance and making violent threats following repeated incidents that culminated in her brandishing a large knife outside a neighbour’s property.

FCHO worked with Greater Manchester Police throughout the case, and Rouse has spent repeated periods in prison for breaching the orders and for separate criminal offences. The housing association finally evicted her on 8 July for rent arrears after the judge issued the five-year injunction on 23 June under Section 4 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

Chief executive Mark Gifford praised Sedgemoor Way residents for their “patience and bravery”, adding: “This has been a complex and challenging case that started with minor issues but then gradually developed to be more serious. One of the biggest challenges and frustrations … was that Rouse was manipulative and used the health system to her advantage.”
