Oldham shooting: Police update on investigation

Police are investigating a targeted shooting in Oldham where bullets hit a house and car, with two suspects released on bail as enquiries continue.

Police have confirmed that shots were fired at a house on School House Road in Oldham last Sunday afternoon, leaving bullet holes in the downstairs window and damaging a car parked outside. The incident, which occurred at around 1pm on February 15, sparked a major police investigation and caused concern among local residents.

Two men were arrested during dawn raids on February 18-one in his 40s from Chapel Road and another in his 20s from Vicarage Street-on suspicion of firearms offences. Both suspects have since been released on bail as detectives continue their enquiries into what they believe was a targeted attack.

Detective Inspector Rachel Smith said extra patrol officers have been deployed in the area to provide community reassurance, with police walking the streets and driving through neighbourhoods. She urged anyone with CCTV, doorbell footage, photos, or information about the suspects to come forward, stressing that even small details could help the investigation.

The police have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting log 1397 of 15/02/2026, or to report online at www.gmp.police.uk. People can also give anonymous tips through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The incident has left the local community on edge, with residents being advised to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to the authorities.
