Oldham Foodbank receives £2k donation to support local community with food supplies over Christmas

Oldham Foodbank received a £2,000 donation from Chancerygate and Hines to support food supplies for those in need over Christmas. Volunteers from both companies also helped organise and pack donations. The foodbank, part of The Trussell Trust network, will use the funds to purchase high-demand items.

Oldham Foodbank volunteers have secured £2,000 to stock shelves with high-demand supplies for families struggling this Christmas, thanks to a donation from property developers Chancerygate and Hines.

The Warrington-based urban logistics specialist and global real estate investor, who are jointly developing a 166,500 sq ft logistics site at Broadway Green in Chadderton, provided the funds to help the Trussell Trust-run foodbank meet soaring demand across the borough. Staff from both companies also spent a day sorting and packing donations at the centre.

Organisational development coordinator Tom Lewis Hood said the gift arrives at a critical moment: “We are hugely appreciative of the donation from Chancerygate and Hines to support our foodbank over the Christmas period. Donations like this ensure that we can support people experiencing crisis in Oldham and enables us to purchase items which are seeing high demand for from those using our services.”

Oldham Foodbank is one of 428 foodbanks in the Trussell Trust network tackling food poverty nationwide. Chancerygate development manager Andy Farrer praised the volunteers’ efforts and added that he hopes the contribution “can continue to deliver the essential services to the Oldham community.”
