Oldham Choral Society set to team up for next thrilling concert
Oldham Choral Society is collaborating with Salford Choral Society and the National Festival Orchestra to perform William Walton's Belshazzar’s Feast, alongside Elgar’s Great is the Lord and Verdi’s Nabucco selections. The concert will take place on April 6 at the Royal Northern College of Music Concert Hall in Manchester.
Three Greater Manchester musical powerhouses unite next month for a spectacular performance of Belshazzar’s Feast, the thunderous cantata composed by Oldham’s own William Walton.
Oldham Choral Society joins forces with Salford Choral Society and the National Festival Orchestra on Sunday, April 6 at 4 pm at the Royal Northern College of Music Concert Hall. Conductor Tom Newall will lead the massed forces, with baritone David Cane stepping forward as soloist for Walton’s biblical epic.
The programme pairs Walton’s masterpiece with Elgar’s Great is the Lord and stirring selections from Verdi’s Nabucco. Tickets cost £20 for adults, with £17 concessions available for seniors, students, children and the unwaged. Choir members and the ticket secretary on 07768 167178 hold advance bookings, while the RNCM Box Office (0161 907 5555, rncm.ac.uk) sells tickets with a £1 booking fee.
