Old Conservative club could be transformed into banqueting hall and wedding venue

The old Conservative club in Middleton is set to be transformed into a banqueting hall and wedding venue, with plans including internal refurbishments, façade renovation, and a two-storey extension, along with a new car park and green spaces.

Historic Conservative Club in Middleton Set for Transformation into Luxury Wedding Venue

The former Conservative club on Long Street in Middleton could soon host weddings and community celebrations under plans to convert the landmark building into a bespoke banqueting hall.

Architecture Unknown has submitted proposals on behalf of Kohinoor Banqueting Ltd to transform the vacant property into a wedding venue and multi-use function space. The ambitious plans include extensive internal refurbishments, restoration of the building’s heritage façade, and a contemporary two-storey extension.

The disused rear area would become a landscaped car park featuring new plants, green swales and a ‘green-wall’ installation. Developers say the modern extension will draw inspiration from the original Middleton Conservative Club, which ceased operations in 2020.

Daniel Kelso, director at Architecture Unknown, described the vision for 77 Long Street as “contemporary and fresh, nodding respectfully to the building’s heritage while making it fit for purpose - an exciting building that will service the community for events and celebrations, for many years to come.”

Kelso emphasized the collaborative approach taken throughout the design process: “From conception to plans, it has been a collaborative process with the client to ensure we can put forward a beautiful space Middleton town can be proud of. There has been a real focus in maintaining the green space the local community loves, whilst improving access and making the building a go-to destination for events.”
