Police have released an image of a man they urgently want to question after a taxi driver was assaulted during an attempted robbery in Charlestown.

The attack occurred on Charlestown Road around 11:10pm on Saturday, 8 February 2025, when the driver picked up two male passengers. The victim sustained injuries that medical authorities say are neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

Investigators have already charged one man in connection with the incident and are now appealing for the second individual to come forward, believing he holds crucial information about what happened during the late-night fare.

Detectives are also urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity on Charlestown Road at that time to contact them on 101, quoting log 3332 of 08/02/2025. Witnesses who prefer to remain anonymous can pass information to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
