New Oldham outfit Red Light Factory announce debut single

New Oldham-based musical duo Red Light Factory, consisting of Harry Lavin and Ben Warwick, announces their debut single "Manson Song," inspired by notorious criminals and cult leaders. The song, set for release on March 14, blends influences from Echo and the Bunnymen, Queens of the Stone Age, and Kraftwerk.

Red Light Factory, the Saddleworth duo formed by Harry Lavin and Ben Warwick after their 2020 European tour with Twisted Wheel was cut short by lockdown, will release their debut single “Manson Song” on 14 March.

The track, recorded at Vibe Studios with producer Dean Glover, takes its title from America’s most infamous cult leader - a choice Lavin defends as a deliberate provocation in an era when new artists must fight against “instantaneous judgement and disposability.”

“You don’t really hear songs like Gary Gilmore’s Eyes by The Adverts anymore, which is a shame, because I think society is more curious than it’s ever been to look through the biographical lens of notorious criminals and enigmatic cult leaders,” said Lavin, 25.

The Oldham musician and Warwick, 26, spent three years rebuilding momentum after their post-COVID malaise, crafting a sound that channels “the lyrical mystery of Echo and the Bunnymen, tinged with the visceral thunder of Queens of the Stone Age” through Kraftwerk’s minimalist aesthetic.
