More than 100 new homes approved for Foxdenton Farm site in Chadderton

Over 100 shared ownership homes will be built on Foxdenton Farm in Chadderton after approval by Oldham Council. The development, led by Stonebond Properties and FO Developments LLP, includes 101 homes with private gardens and parking. The properties will be managed by Great Places Housing Group, with contributions of £150k for education and £133,528 for the Linear Park project.

More than 100 new shared ownership homes will rise from Foxdenton Farm in Chadderton after Oldham Council approved plans Wednesday night, offering local residents a fresh route onto the property ladder.

Developers Stonebond Properties and FO Developments LLP will build 101 houses—20 two-bedroom, 52 three-bedroom and 29 four-bedroom—off Foxdenton Lane, each with private gardens and parking. Great Places Housing Group will sell and manage the properties under shared ownership terms once construction finishes.

Jake Crompton, representing the developers at the planning meeting, called the model “the next best thing to Help to Buy,” noting buyers can start with as little as 35 percent ownership and staircase up to full ownership over time. “Effectively you can purchase a percentage of the home upfront and staircase over the years to 100 pc ownership, at which point they would own the house in perpetuity,” he said.

Councillors backed the scheme unanimously. Coun Josh Charters declared, “We need more affordable homes. We say that every time we meet. Shared ownership housing is really important for helping people get on the property ladder.” The developers also pledged £150,000 toward local education—half payable when 50 percent of homes are occupied and the remainder at 75 percent occupancy—and £133,528 to complete the final phase of the town-centre Linear Park, potentially finished before the end of 2025.
