Man, 57, dies in horror crash as M60 closed for hours amid police investigations

A 57-year-old man died in a crash on the M60, leading to a prolonged closure of the motorway in both directions for police investigations.

A 57-year-old man died in a crash that shut the M60 in both directions early Sunday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

Emergency crews were called to the motorway between junctions 21 and 20 at 3:56 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both carriageways remain closed while investigators work. National Highways said the anti-clockwise stretch is shut from J23 (Ashton-under-Lyne) to J21 (Chadderton), and the clockwise side is closed between J22 and J23. The closures began just before 4 a.m.
