Lots to celebrate at Blue Coat
Blue Coat School in Oldham celebrated outstanding GCSE results, with 35% of all grades across subjects being top grades (9-7). Nearly 90% of students achieved grades 9-4 in English and maths, and 75% achieved grades 9-5. Several students, including Pacco Takami and Millie Chandler, achieved exceptional results with multiple grade 9s. The headteacher praised the students' hard work and thanked families and staff for their support. Most students will continue their education at Blue Coat Sixth Form.
Blue Coat students erupted in celebration this morning as the school posted its strongest GCSE results on record, with more than one-third of all grades hitting the top 9-7 mark.
Thirty-five per cent of entries across every subject landed at the highest bands, while almost 90 per cent of the year group secured at least a standard pass—grades 9-4—in both English and maths. Seventy-five per cent of pupils pushed even higher, earning strong passes of 9-5 in the same core subjects.
Pacco Takami and Millie Chandler led the standout performers, each collecting 10 grade 9s and one grade 8. Close behind, Roisin Barnes, Elliot Bennion and Ivy Nwaorgu all walked away with seven grade 9s and three grade 8s. “I’m so pleased and couldn’t have hoped for better,” Millie said, confirming she will stay on at The Blue Coat Sixth Form. Pacco echoed her excitement: “I’m elated with my results and would like to thank all the staff at the school for their hard work and support.”
Headteacher Rob Higgins hailed the class of 2025 for surpassing every previous cohort. “We are incredibly proud of every single one of them,” he said, praising families and teachers for “tireless hard work, dedication, commitment and levels of pastoral care” that made the record-breaking haul possible. The majority of students will remain at Blue Coat for sixth-form studies next year.
