Investigators appealing for information after man assaulted following road traffic collision in Leigh

Police are investigating a serious assault following a road traffic collision on Eva Street, Leigh, where a black Volvo drove at a victim, and four assailants attacked him with weapons before fleeing. The car was later found burned out in nearby fields. The victim sustained life-changing injuries and remains hospitalized. Authorities are appealing for witnesses and any relevant footage or information.

A man sustained life-changing injuries Friday night after four assailants attacked him through his car window on Eva Street, Leigh.

The 10:29 p.m. ambush began when a black Volvo deliberately rammed the victim’s vehicle at the junction with Ena Crescent. Four occupants jumped out, wielding weapons and assaulting the driver while he remained trapped behind the wheel. The attackers then fled back to the Volvo, which sped toward Wigan Road in the direction of Hindley Green.

Police located the getaway vehicle five minutes later after it crashed through a gate off Melrose Avenue and was abandoned burning in nearby fields. All occupants had vanished by the time officers arrived. The victim remains hospitalized with injuries police describe as life-changing.
