Hulme Grammar School Celebrates Outstanding A Level Results

Hard work, resilience, and commitment—the key values of Hulme Grammar School—were on full display today as students collected their A Level results.

Over 60% of students achieved A-B grades*, reinforcing Hulme’s position as one of the region’s leading selective independent schools. The school welcomes pupils with academic potential, determination to achieve, and a desire to be part of a lifelong community.

Staff and parents are proud that the diverse cohort, including students affected by the conflict in Ukraine and personal tragedy, could access education enabling the majority to secure their preferred university or apprenticeship. Thanks to the Bursary Foundation, funded by generous benefactors, Hulme supports students from all backgrounds.

While one in five students achieved straight A/A grades*, Hulme is not an academic hothouse. Success was achieved alongside co-curricular activities like netball, football, orchestras, choirs, community volunteering, and large-scale musical productions.

Top achievers:

  • Farah: 4 A* → Medicine at Cambridge
  • Ameera: 3 A* → Chemical Engineering at Leicester (Deputy Head Student)

Straight A/A students*:
Aneeq, Dawood, Rohini (all Medicine), Adam, Hamza, Tom, Darcy (Head Student), and Candy—who joined from China and achieved these results in her second language!

Next steps include courses in Philosophy, Politics & Economics, Engineering, Law, Optometry, Foreign Languages, and Physics at universities like Durham, Manchester, Liverpool, and Exeter.

Degree Apprenticeships:
Will secured a highly competitive Accounting & Finance apprenticeship at RPG Chartered Accountants (selected from ~700 applicants).

Principal Kirsten Pankhurst praised the students:
“These results reflect determination, intellectual curiosity, and resilience. We challenge bright minds and support them to exceed expectations.”

Hulme’s Class of 2025 follows distinguished alumni like Professor Brian Cox (physicist/broadcaster). Founded 400+ years ago, Hulme offers a continuous pathway from Pre-Prep to Sixth Form, ensuring tailored challenge, pastoral care, and leadership opportunities.
