Hathershaw pupils shine at MEGAHUB event
Hathershaw College students excelled at the MEGAHUB event, winning the competition against five other schools. The event focused on technology-based challenges, including AI, cybersecurity, and VR gaming. The school will also launch a Super Curricular Club for Esports and Cybersecurity.
Hathershaw College students dominated the MEGAHUB technology competition this month, with Year 9 and Year 8 teams sweeping first place among six competing schools at The Oldham College.
The victory came during the all-day event that challenges secondary pupils through technology-based activities. Students developed prototype Artificial Intelligence solutions for future problems, pitched their concepts, and tackled real-world challenges in Cyber Security, Generative AI, Data Analytics, and Virtual Reality Gaming.
The MEGA Hub initiative - standing for Motivated, Educated Generation with Ambition - works to enhance technology education across local secondary schools. Participants demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and dedication throughout the competition, earning praise for their conduct and efforts.
Building on this success, Hathershaw will launch an after-school Super Curricular Club during summer term. The programme offers immersive enrichment in Esports and Cybersecurity for students eager to explore gaming and technology further.
