GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit appeal for further information after a road traffic collision
A fatal road traffic collision occurred on Manor Avenue in Sale on the evening of December 23, 2024, involving a van and a pedestrian. A 60-year-old man sustained serious injuries and later died. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.
Pedestrian, 60, Dies After Van Collision in Sale
A 60-year-old man died Monday evening after being struck by a van while crossing Manor Avenue in Sale. The collision occurred just before 8pm when the vehicle, traveling toward Carrington Lane, hit the pedestrian who suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Greater Manchester Police arrested a man in his 40s at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit has launched an inquiry into the fatal incident.
Detective Constable Thomas Johnson appealed for witnesses: “Firstly our thoughts are with the loved ones who have lost a family member and friend in tragic circumstances. They are currently being supported by specialist officers at this time. Whilst we continue to investigate, we are urging anyone who has further information that could help us to contact us directly as soon as possible and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.”
