Four-week-old kitten rescued from rubble in Oldham

A tiny kitten named Beans is recovering after being pulled from beneath rubble where he was trapped in a cavity between an extension and brick wall on Ashton Road, Oldham, earlier this month. A passer-by heard the four-week-old stray’s frantic meows and alerted Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, who freed the shivering animal from the debris.

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Alison Hasler took the kitten to the charity’s Greater Manchester Animal Hospital. “Beans was a bit worse for wear when he first came to us, he looked to have an injured leg and was very cold - thankfully it wasn’t broken, and with fluids and monitoring he appears to be on the mend,” she said. “Beans is very very cute, we’re all a bit in love with him. He’s a very social, friendly and cuddly boy who’s stolen everyone’s hearts.”

Anyone with information about Beans is asked to call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018, quoting incident number 01491593. The kitten is now in the care of the RSPCA’s Southport and Ormskirk branch and will be rehomed once he is old enough.
