The Vale in Mossley is hosting a vibrant spring season with four headlining acts, including Mr Wilson's Second Liners, Funke and the Two Tone Baby, Duncan Disorderly and The Scallywags, and TC and The Groove Family. The events feature a mix of music genres and high-energy performances, with tickets starting at £15. A free Spring Up! event will also take place on May 11, offering workshops and live music.

Spring Concert Series Brings Four Headliners to The Vale

The Vale arts centre in Mossley is set to host four headline acts this spring, kicking off with the return of local favourites Mr Wilson’s Second Liners on Saturday, March 22.

The New Orleans brass-meets-Manchester club classics ensemble, who pay homage to 90s Hacienda culture and Tony Wilson, have almost sold out their Mossley return. Support comes from Liverpool’s Kazimier club founders Dogshow, featuring canine-headed brothers Laurie and Sam Crombie performing from a battery-powered dog trolley.

April brings a high-energy double bill on Saturday the 12th, with one-man mechanical alt-blues act Funke and the Two Tone Baby sharing the stage with festival veterans Duncan Disorderly and The Scallywags. Funke, aka multi-instrumentalist Dan Turnbull, has performed over 1,000 shows in the past decade, while the Scallywags bring their ska-calypso-reggae fusion to The Vale after winning crowds at Glastonbury, Boomtown and Secret Garden Party.

The spring series concludes on Saturday, May 10 with 10-piece Leeds collective TC and The Groove Family. Led by drummer Tim Cook, the afrobeat-breakbeat-jazz fusion group have supported K.O.G. and The Zongo Brigade and Yussef Dayes across the UK. Their debut album First Home received airplay from Jamz Supernova and Craig Charles on BBC Radio 6.

All tickets start from £15, with donate-what-you-can options available. The Vale’s free family-friendly Spring Up! event follows on Sunday, May 11, featuring music workshops and garden activities.

“There’s no doubt there’s something in the air this Spring at The Vale,” said programming manager Johnny Clifford. “Come and listen to a handpicked selection of truly accomplished musicians, who all know how to bring a real sense of fun and party to their performance.”

The Vale is located at Vale Mill, off Micklehurst Road, Mossley OL5 9JL.
