George’s marathon rowing challenge - a mile a day for Age UK Oldham

George Mills is rowing one mile a day for 26 days to complete a marathon distance, raising funds for Age UK Oldham, a charity that helped him regain strength and confidence through their Falls Prevention Exercise Class.

George Mills is rowing one mile every day for 26 days to complete a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles, raising funds for Age UK Oldham in gratitude for their life-changing support.

The challenge honors the charity’s Falls Prevention Exercise Class that transformed Mills’ physical and mental wellbeing after he joined the program designed to improve balance, strength, and mobility in older adults.

“I wouldn’t have been able to take on a challenge like this without the help of Age UK Oldham,” said George. “Their Falls class gave me back my confidence and mobility, and this is my way of saying thank you.”

Each daily mile demonstrates that new goals remain achievable at any age while generating crucial funds for the organization’s services that help older adults maintain independence, connection, and wellness. Supporters can track his progress and contribute through the charity’s donation link to ensure more people receive the support that revitalized Mills’ life.
