Firefighters rush to Denshaw crash scene
Emergency services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Rochdale Road in Denshaw, with firefighters extracting one casualty and making the area safe before leaving.
Emergency crews raced to Denshaw village Monday afternoon after two vehicles collided at a major junction on Rochdale Road, trapping one motorist inside their wrecked car.
Firefighters from Oldham and Rochdale stations, joined by the Enhanced Rescue Unit from Leigh, reached the crash scene shortly after 4.40pm. Using hydraulic cutting gear, they freed the trapped casualty within minutes and handed the patient over to paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.
“Crews arrived quickly, extricated one casualty from their vehicle using specialist equipment and transferred them into the care of North West Ambulance Service,” a Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed. The fire teams secured the area and cleared debris before leaving the village approximately 90 minutes later.
