Double kit delight thanks to latest Uppermill FC community initiative

Uppermill Football Club's community initiative, UITC, has donated two new football kits to local schools—Oasis Academy Limeside and Saddleworth School's girls' team—to support youth sports and encourage girls' participation in football.

Uppermill Football Club has delivered two new football kits to local schools as part of its ongoing Uppermill in the Community initiative, extending its charitable efforts beyond the successful Christmas Appeal that raised £1,500 for children in need across Oldham.

Oasis Academy Limeside in Hollinwood received the first kit after local businessman Chris Dummett won a competition through his energy supplier Octopus and donated the prize to Uppermill FC. “As we had recently replaced our junior team kits for all our junior teams, we agreed with Chris that it might be better used in being donated to a school in Oldham in need of a new kit,” explained club CEO Steve Southern. “Using our community connections, we then spoke with Oasis primary school in Hollinwood and they said that their children would be thrilled to have a brand new kit.”

The second kit went to Saddleworth School’s girls football team, addressing a specific need the school had advertised for sponsorship. Chris Duckworth, Chair of the Junior Section of Uppermill FC, said the opportunity aligned perfectly with the club’s goals. “Whilst we have girls playing in our junior teams, we really would like to have a specific focus on creating girls (and women’s) teams,” Duckworth noted. Local designers Hope and Glory created a unique kit for the school, strengthening the club’s relationship with Saddleworth School and supporting local girls’ football development.
