Schoolgirl, 11, fights off abductors on Silver Street
An 11-year-old girl dashed to safety yesterday morning after a man and woman tried to grab her on Silver Street, Irlam, close to the junction with Cutnook Lane. The child, on her way to school at about 8.30 am, told police the pair had first been cruising the area in a black four-door car and a small new white van with a sliding door.
The man—white, 5 ft 9 in, clean-shaven with short dark hair—wore blue jeans and a black hoodie; the woman, also white, had on black leggings and a matching hoodie. Both sprang from their vehicles, seized the girl, but lost their grip when she broke free and ran to alert an adult.
Extra patrols are now sweeping the neighbourhood while detectives appeal for dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage captured around 8.30 am on 14 January 2025.
