Celebrating National Apprenticeships Week at Hulme Grammar
Hulme Grammar School is celebrating National Apprenticeships Week 2025, highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships through events like employer presentations, virtual fairs, and parent engagement sessions.
Hulme Grammar School has launched a week-long programme of employer talks, university fairs and parent briefings to mark National Apprenticeships Week 2025, demonstrating how paid training schemes can serve as a launch-pad for lifelong careers.
Under the national theme “Skills for Life”, the school began five days of events on Monday that put apprenticeships—structured programmes combining work and study from intermediate level up to postgraduate—at the centre of pupils’ career thinking. Staff say the goal is to show teenagers that earning while learning can build the resilience, adaptability and communication abilities demanded by a fast-changing labour market.
Wednesday brings the busiest schedule: during the day students will log in to the Unifrog Virtual Apprenticeship Fair to quiz employers remotely, then travel to Manchester Metropolitan University’s in-person Degree Apprenticeship Fair to explore on-the-job routes to a bachelor’s or master’s qualification. Employer presentations running throughout the week give pupils direct access to recruiters outlining the qualities they look for in apprentices.
Friday’s programme targets parents as well as students. Nicole Gavaza, a Hulme alumna now completing a Level 7 apprenticeship at KPMG, will deliver a morning Hulme Talk on her progression, while Head of Futures Katie Flett hosts an evening Apprenticeships Information Session covering applications and how families can support candidates. Businesses or training providers wishing to take part are asked to contact Flett at [email protected].
