Bus stop wrecked after car ploughs into it

A bus stop in Dobcross, Saddleworth, was completely destroyed after a saloon car collided with it on Saturday evening. The incident left locals concerned about potential dangers to pedestrians, though no injuries were reported. The car's occupants, believed to be four males, have not been charged.

A popular village bus stop where local youngsters regularly gather lies in ruins after a saloon car slammed into the structure Saturday evening, reducing the stone shelter to rubble.

The collision occurred near the Lime Kiln cafe on Dobcross New Road in Dobcross, Saddleworth, where the impact completely demolished the bus stop - collapsing its stone walls and bringing the roof crashing to the ground. Residents expressed both dismay at the destruction and relief that no pedestrians were present when the vehicle struck.

Witnesses reported seeing four males in the saloon car, though authorities have not confirmed any injuries or charges related to the incident. The force of the collision left locals stunned by the extent of the damage.

“The car wasn’t being driven at low speed to do this kind of damage,” one resident noted. “It’s lucky no-one was standing on the pavement or stop at the time of the crash.”

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for further details about the investigation.
