Green-thumbed tenants at First Choice Homes Oldham have lifted the lid on their summer plots after judges crowned the winners of the 2024 ‘Budding Neighbourhoods’ gardening contest.

Kelly Jones from Derker took top honours in the ‘A Brew and My View’ section, which invited entrants to photograph their planting handiwork alongside a favourite cuppa. Becky Twist of Failsworth claimed the ‘Garden Genius’ title for the most inventive transformation, while Saiqa Zulfiqar from Glodwick scooped ‘My Garden Harvest’ for her home-grown produce.

Michael Webb, customer involvement officer, praised the online showcase: “Many congratulations to the winners and runners up of our Budding Neighbourhoods competition 2024. Now we are in the dark days of winter, we’re delighted to show the winning gardens in all their summer splendour to lift the post-Christmas spirits. We are always knocked out by the standard of entries we receive and how proud our customers are of their gardens. Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter. We enjoyed looking at all of them.”

Each category champion received a £100 Love2Shop voucher, with second and third places awarded £50 and £25 respectively.
