Beal Vale Primary School in Shaw will equip every Key Stage 2 pupil with an iPad from January 2025, launching an ambitious digital literacy programme backed by the Crompton House Multi-Academy Trust.

The Beal Vale Interactivity Programme (BVIP) will see tablets woven into daily lessons—from research for history projects to interactive maths games and creative-writing apps—after teachers complete dedicated training on integrating the devices across the curriculum. Head teacher Greg Ball said: “This is a transformative step for our school and our students. By equipping every Key Stage 2 child with an iPad, we are empowering them to take control of their learning in a dynamic and engaging way. The devices will not only enhance traditional classroom teaching but also provide access to a wealth of online resources and apps that will inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.”

Year 5 pupils are already counting the days. Reva said: “I can’t wait to use an iPad for my lessons! It’s going to be so fun to learn in new ways and try out apps that make maths and writing more exciting.” Classmate Elliott added: “I’m looking forward to making my own presentations and learning about things like coding.” Parents echoed the enthusiasm, with one remarking: “This is such an impressive step for the school. It’s fantastic to see Beal Vale leading the way in giving our children the tools they’ll need for success in the modern world.”

The Trust, which oversees the school, has funded robust staff training and pledged resources to teach pupils how to navigate the internet safely and responsibly.
