Rochdale police arrested a 22-year-old man Wednesday evening on suspicion of harassment after multiple women reported being approached by a man who emerged from bushes to expose himself and solicit sexual favors.
The most recent incident occurred shortly after 5pm in Falinge Park, according to authorities, who say the suspect has been hiding in vegetation before jumping out at women, sometimes displaying indecent text messages on his phone. The arrest follows four linked reports, though investigators believe additional victims may come forward.
“We understand how concerning it is hearing of incidents of this nature, and I would like to provide reassurance that these are typically very rare,” said Detective Sergeant Hannah Havard. “We have made a swift arrest this afternoon and that individual remains in custody for questioning.”
Extra officers are now patrolling Rochdale’s public spaces while the investigation continues. Anyone with information should contact Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8519, call 101 quoting log 2333 of 19/02/25, or reach Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
