Alan Griffiths, former Mayor of Oldham, passed away peacefully at Dr Kershaw's Hospice on 8th January 2025, aged 87. He was a beloved family man and played a key role in founding the Youth Council and re-establishing Shaw and Crompton Parish Council. His funeral service will be held on 29th January 2025.
Alan Griffiths, who served as Mayor of Oldham and played a pivotal role in establishing the Youth Council while helping revive Shaw and Crompton Parish Council, died peacefully at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice on January 8. He was 87.
Griffiths leaves behind his wife Irene, daughters Janet and Carol, sons-in-law Ian and Peter, grandchildren Laura, Joshua and Katie, and a great-grandchild. His funeral service will be held at the United Reformed Church on Rochdale Road, Shaw on Wednesday, January 29 at 12:45pm, followed by committal at Oldham Crematorium in Hollinwood.
