Additional resources deployed and investigation launched following stabbing in Tameside

Teenager Hospitalized After Stabbing on Oldham Road
A 16-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing incident on Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne on Wednesday evening.
Emergency services responded to reports of the attack around 6pm on January 1, 2025. The teenager was transported to hospital where he remains in serious condition.
No arrests have been made as the investigation remains in its early stages. Greater Manchester Police have deployed additional officers to the area while detectives work to establish the timeline of events that led to the stabbing.
Detective Sergeant Steve Carroll from the Tameside division stated: “Our investigation is in the early stages but we are following several lines of enquiry to establish the timeline of events which led to this male being injured tonight. We have deployed additional officers to the area whilst we conduct further enquiries, if you have any concerns or some information you would like to share, please do not hesitate to speak to them. No matter how small the information may seem, it could be crucial to our investigation.”
