43-year-old man arrested following knife point robbery in Tameside

A 43-year-old man was arrested in Dukinfield, Tameside, after allegedly committing a knife-point robbery. Two Greater Manchester Police officers on patrol witnessed the suspect fleeing an address on King Street and pursued him, during which he threatened them with a knife. No injuries were reported, and the suspect remains in custody. DCI Abdul Kahar praised the officers' quick response and emphasized the dangers of knife crime, urging the public to report any suspicions of knife-carrying.

Police officers tackled and arrested a 43-year-old man at knifepoint in Dukinfield after spotting him fleeing a business on King Street late Saturday night.

The two Greater Manchester Police officers were on routine patrol in Tameside around 11:30 p.m. on 7 December 2024 when they saw the suspect, dressed entirely in dark clothing, sprinting from the premises. The man turned on the pursuing officers and threatened them with a knife before being subdued and taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

The suspect remains in police custody for questioning regarding the knife-point business robbery.

DCI Abdul Kahar of the Tameside district praised the officers’ swift response: “This was an excellent arrest and I am very proud of the officers involved who reacted quickly and in the interests of keeping the public safe. Knives have no place on our streets - they bring only violence and misery and we will continue to work tirelessly to remove them and hold any offenders to account.”
