Woman fighting for life after Oldham stabbing - suspect at large

A woman in her 20s is fighting for her life in hospital after being stabbed in Oldham last night, with the suspect still at large. Police were called to Greenwood Street in Greenacres at 10.40pm on Friday after reports of an assault, where they found the victim with serious stab wounds.

A large police cordon remains in place today, blocking off Spring Street, Raper Street and Greenwood Street. Crime scene investigators and sniffer dogs have been deployed to the area as officers work through the night to track down the attacker.

Many residents in the surrounding streets say they were unaware anything had happened until waking up this morning to find police tape across their neighbourhood. The sudden appearance of the cordon has left some locals feeling unsettled about what occurred on their doorstep.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Chief Inspector Ian Partington has reassured the community that officers are 'exhausting all lines of enquiry' to locate the suspect, describing the incident as being taken 'extremely seriously'.
