Winger Dixon extends Roughyeds stay
Oldham Roughyeds have confirmed that winger Kieran Dixon has signed a new one-year contract, keeping him at the club for the 2026 season. Dixon, who has over 100 Super League appearances, has been a key player since joining from Widnes, contributing significantly to Oldham's League 1 title win and their current top-four finish in the Betfred Championship despite a mid-season injury. Both Dixon and head coach Sean Long expressed excitement and confidence in the team's ability to compete for the league title.
Kieran Dixon will remain at Boundary Park through 2026 after signing a fresh one-year contract with Oldham RLFC, the club confirmed today.
The 33-year-old winger, who counts more than 100 Super League appearances on his CV, has struck 15 tries this season despite a mid-season broken arm that sidelined him for weeks. His production helped propel Sean Long’s side into a top-four Betfred Championship finish and this month’s playoffs.
“I’m really excited,” Dixon told Roughyeds TV. “When I signed last year it was massive for me and I saw where the club was going, so I am glad to be staying. To have the opportunity to be amongst it in a team like this full of really good players is great. It is always frustrating getting injuries but I’m back on the horse now competing for that spot. This team feels like a big family which makes it easy to be here.”
Dixon arrived from Widnes ahead of Oldham’s 2023 League 1 title surge, bagging nine tries and 39 goals in only seven outings. Long said the veteran’s experience is vital with Mo Agoro and Mathieu Pons nursing injuries: “Kieran has been great for us. He made a big impact when he arrived last year and was flying before his surgery this season too. We need a few strong options on the wing … and with Kieran, Ethan Ryan, Phoenix and Jack Johnson we have got that.”
