Update on murder investigation as tribute paid to man following his death

William Riddell, 59, was found dead at his Astbury Avenue home in Manchester late Sunday night after police responded to a welfare concern call at 11:35 pm on November 10, 2024.
Riddell’s family remembered him as a good man who was nice to everyone. “Billy was a good man and he was nice to everyone. His friends in the community are devastated by his loss. His step-grandchildren will miss him dearly,” a family spokesperson said.
A 47-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed pending further enquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis from GMP’s Major Incident Team confirmed the investigation continues at pace. “My team is working hard to comprehensively review all lines of enquiry and establish the full facts of this incident. I would like to reiterate my earlier appeal for information, as even the smallest information could greatly assist our investigation,” Davis said.
