Update following incident on Tonge Moor Road, Bolton yesterday

A man in his 50s was arrested after two men were stabbed on Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, around 10:30am on 21 April; both victims received medical treatment and police say there is no wider threat to the community.

At around 10.30am yesterday (21 April) we were called to reports of a stabbing on Tonge Moor Road, Bolton.

Emergency services attended and two men were treated by medical professionals for stab wounds.

Officers immediately responded and a man in his 50s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody for questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Sharples from our Bolton District said: “We currently have a man detained and officers are conducting extensive enquiries as part of a comprehensive investigation.

“We fully appreciate that the local community will be concerned but I would like to reassure them that there is no wider threat, and that this is being treated as an isolated incident.

“We are aware of a video circulating online in relation to this incident, and we appreciate that people will have concerns and worries regarding it.
