Two arrests made following reports of robbery in Manchester city centre

Two arrests have been made following a robbery in Manchester city centre, where a male victim had an item of clothing taken during an altercation. A 14-year-old boy, a friend of the victim, suffered a serious medical episode and was hospitalized, though his condition is no longer life-threatening. An 18-year-old man has been bailed, while a 17-year-old remains in custody. Police are investigating and urging witnesses to come forward.

Two teenagers have been arrested following a robbery on Manchester’s Market Street that left a 14-year-old boy hospitalized with a serious medical emergency.

The incident occurred shortly before 9pm on Sunday, February 15, when a male victim had an item of clothing stolen during an altercation. During the robbery, the victim’s 14-year-old friend suffered a severe medical episode, prompting members of the public to rush to his aid. The teenager was transported to hospital, where his condition is now described as no longer life-threatening.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released on bail pending further investigation. A 17-year-old male remains in police custody for questioning on the same charge.

Superintendent Nicola Williams from Greater Manchester Police’s City of Manchester district stated: “Our officers are still investigating the full circumstances of this shocking incident, and we remain in contact with all those involved to offer our full support. Following this incident, a young teenager was left in hospital and all of our thoughts are with him as he continues to recover from this horrific ordeal.”
